    Oven Tripping RCD

Ok. I’m not there again until later in the week. One thing worth mentioning is that when I pulled the oven out to check be cable, there was a slight kink in the cable (it’s the 6mm flat cable, the same as what goes back to the isolator and consumer unit, so it’s not especially flexible). I’m...

    Oven Tripping RCD

Yes, the circuit is purely for the oven and hob. It doesn’t have a button as far as I remember, just a switch. Edit - having Googled it, I’m pretty sure the circuit is on a MCB rather than RCD..

    Oven Tripping RCD

It’s a new HiSense single built in oven.

    Oven Tripping RCD

Sorry, I’m not au fait with the terminology.. It’s a new consumer unit with a dedicated circuit for the oven and hob (the hob seems to not be part of this issue as it’s never been one when it’s happened).

    Oven Tripping RCD

Thanks.the oven is still under warranty, so if it’s likely to be the oven itself rather than anything environmental (I appreciate there’s no certainty at the moment), I’m happy to explore that route..

    Oven Tripping RCD

Hi, Weird one…Around 18mths ago, I had a new consumer unit fitted as well as all new appliances. Everything has been perfect up until a few weeks ago. One morning, the oven circuit was off, the RCD had tripped. With a bit more investigation, it transpired that the RCD trip coincided with the...

CU Full - Need an EV Charger

Hi, I'm considering an EV and trying to get costs together before exposing my sanity to car dealers. First obstacle is the charger. My CU is full. Other than having a new one fitted with additional capacity, are there any other options? The cost of fitting a new one will most likely be a deal...

    EICR and Bonding

Thanks. You've cheered me up! Having a bit of a 'mare with this house, and this had the capacity to make things a lot worse....

    EICR and Bonding

That would be very simple of that's acceptable with the regs/EICR..

    EICR and Bonding

It would be invasive to run a whole new run from the CU to the gas as it goes up/down walls (behind plaster) and under floors... If it's a case of just joining the gas bond termination to the existing water bond termination, it's a piece of cake.... My understanding, however, was that it would...

    EICR and Bonding

Hi, Looking for a bit of advice, please. I'm midway through updating a Victorian terrace and I'm looking at the electrics... The house will be a rental, and I'm aware the EICR will fail as they CU has no RCD protection and is very old. I'm happy to do get that sorted, but I'm less sure about...

    Rad Valve Cap

    Gotcha! I understand. Thanks again!

    Rad Valve Cap

Just to confirm as I can’t quite get my head around it... I fit the rad and connect the flow/return. I then remove the decorators cap and fit the TRV head. There will be no water escape when I remove the cap? Why?

    Rad Valve Cap

Thanks so much! Makes perfect sense!

    Rad Valve Cap

Hi Please see attached image. The builder left the radiator valve like this. I have a TRV to go on, but I expected the cap would just unscrew and I would screw the TRV on. When I loosened the cap, water spurts out from the system. Do I need to drain the whole system to fit the TRV??
