Many thanks. I'll try bleeding the rad (bathroom where there's no carpet, only wipe-clean lino!) tomorrow. At the moment, the pressure's hovering around the 2.5 mark, although it's had time to warm up.
Okay done all that now and pressure is back up to 1 and boiler is working. Some water shot out of the bottom but I assume that's simply because I overfilled the system and won't cause any major problems?
Thanks, found that now. It was attached. There is a blue tap attached to one of the valves - how much do I turn this on? Do I leave it on until the gauge goes back up to 1? Do I need to turn anything else on?

Is this filling loop anything to do with the different coloured taps underneath the boiler that are visible, or do I have to take the casing off?

We have just returned from a two-week holiday to find that the pilot light has gone out and the red 'bar' LED is flashing. The system pressure gauge is halfway between 0 and 1. I've no idea how long it's been...
