    Gate hinges directly to brick

Thanks everyone, I've used a post as suggested, all working fine, and wasn't much hassle. I'll just need to mend the holes in the bricks once I remove it.

    Gate hinges directly to brick

Thank you both. I was going to put the hinge at the end of the wall, so the gate when closed would sit flush with the wall, not perpendicular. Still, I take all your points about the weight distribution, holes in masonry etc., and I can imagine how that many holes at the end of the brick...

    Gate hinges directly to brick

Hi Can I attach gate hinges such as these directly in brickwork, instead of to a post which I need to attach to the brickwork? Is a post necessary, and if so, why (just curious, for better understanding)? This is for a short term thing (the gate will come off in a month or two), if the easier...

Does this require certification for unvented

Thanks. If it doesn't require certification, then I suppose it could be a diy job as well - drain the cylinder, replace the draincock, fill it up again. Does this require certification for unvented

Hi, I have a draincock on the cold main going into my megaflo. The draincock needs to be replaced. Does this require a certified person, or can any plumber do it? I am asking because one plumber told me he can't do it because he isn't certified, but another said anyone can do it because it's...

Kitchen sink waste leak in floor

Hi, Where the waste pipe from my kitchen sink goes into the floor, there is a rubber seal and the floor is wet/damp (I've marked the seal and wet floor with red in the photo). The pipe is dry, so it seems to me that there is a leak between the seal and the floor. I am thinking of disconnecting...
