Thanks for all the advice! I'm guessing that, as the humm is only very quiet, and is audible as soon as you turn the boiler on, and does off immediately when you turn it off at the mains, it's something I'm going have to learn to live with, much like some lights, a fridge and an oven will...

'if its an 80e the e means electronic' - thanks! no pilot light - the pilot light is lit, when i turn the boiler on and re-set, but it just perminantly humms and annoys me, so i turn it off! Trying to stop the hum so no fan running at slow speed - so do i need to get the fan running...

There's a sticker and manuel for the 80e, so i'm assuming that's what it is. The pernament pilot version's fan runs on a very low speed IIRC to remove the POC from the pilot light. ??????? I'm a girl!!!!!!! In english please?!!!!
