It's now Tuesday evening 7pm - boiler is still runnng fine. In the meantime, I've had a reply from my engineer who suggested that I post his comments about my problems and your repsonses to my posts. If anyone has something else to add, I think he'd appreciate any comments: "A faulty...

Tuesday Morning Update The boiler fired up on its own on Monday afternoon with hall stat set at 17 degrees, we turned the hall stat up to 20 at around 6pm and the boiler delivered CH and HW throughout the evening. We left it on auto overnight and at around 0615 Tuesday morning it fired up...

Monday Morning Even more curiouser. The hall stat was turned down to 17 degrees when we went to bed, the heating came on during the night and at about 0615 the boiler fired up to heat the hot water. Nothing has been done to the system since I started this thread yesterday...

combispecialist, I had already decided earlier during this afternoon that I would send this thread to the plumber for his perspective on things; I think your last post is the one where (at least for now) we draw this item to a close. I'll send him the link to the forum and posts right now, so...

Should have mentioned that since the boiler started itself at 2020hrs, it has lit, stopped and lit isself again about 3 times since then. Time is now 2105 by my watch ( a bit ahead of PC clock). this is how it was behaving (normally) on Weds or Thursday last week after malfunctioning for the...

No, downstaris rads are all fine; kitchen, dining, lounge x 2, study, cloakroom. Only ones that are a little cooler are bathroom (next to immersion and pump) and shower room (vertical towel rail) which I guess is the next one in line, and I think the plumber turned down the lockshield valves on...

Tony I'll ask our plumber if he did that on Friday. Still like to hear from combispecialist if he thinks it's still the overheat thermostat. Regards - Neil

I reset the boiler at 2006, it stopped at 2018, and now at 2020 hrs it's started up again, just like one might expect it to(?) if it were operating normally.

I reset the boiler at 1935hrs, it ran until 1957, and clicked off, so for 22 minutes, during the last three or so minuites of running I heard what I can best describe as trickling water sounds within the boiler, rather than gurlgling. The flow pipe is too hot to touch for more than a couple...

Agile/Tony Thanks for your reply, I think the difference in temp is greater thatn 10 degrees, but difficult for me to check without having thermometers to clip on to both pipes. I was about to post another note to say that it's just over an hour since the boiler last ran, and I'm about to...

Just seen you note aout bypass valve - we don't have one of these........... although there are pipes in the immersion cupboard going to the loft with valves in them, but I always thorught these were the flows to the header tank and the cold water tank :?:

Combispecialist Many thanks for this guidance. Done as you directed. The flow pipe does not get red hot after 20/30 seconds, quite warm after a few minutes. There is some ticking but not what I would describe as gurgling in the boiler. I should have mentioned earlier perhaps that we...

Almost at zero; below 1 there is a sort of arrowhead that decreases in size to a point in an anticlockwise direction, and the click is when I'm almost at the pointy bit. There is no click if I move the boiler stat up to Max.

OK 1647hrs, just noticed that boiler has stopped again, boiler casing is hot, manual button is out.. Hall thermostat still set to 20, but when I turn it downwards it clicks at 19 degrees.

It stopped running, not sure if that was a trip or if the boiler reckoned it had done it's job. Checked the reset button to see if it was in or out, it was out, and I've pressed it and restarted the boiler. Time now 1632 according to my PC clock.
