    Rendered block planter

    Ah cool, yes I thought i wasn't million miles off with the materials. I can't really afford the time to be making the mistakes i know i will make or i'd be up for giving some of it a go, not afraid of hard work! Was just after a sanity check on here for the quote. Sorry didn't mean to sound rude...

    Yeah i did suspect this might be the case, that's why I'm just after a sanity check. Easy answer is to get another quote, i made the mistake of thinking asking on here would be simpler!!

    Right now we're getting somewhere! Base coat K-rend about the same again? so that's another £170 50m beading something like this? (https://www.travisperkins.co.uk/beads-and-mesh/expamet-white-plastic-angle-bead-10mm-x-3m/p/288491) ~ £110 Mini digger for a day £100 - not entirely sure...

    Fair enough! I'm not after someone to do it for a fraction of the cost. Just after an estimate of the cost from people in the know. I've gone back over all the prices making sure I included delivery and can get 200 7N blocks, 200kg of cement and a bulk bag of sand delivered from B&Q for £400...

    Prices for materials are all from big name suppliers off the internet last night dude. I'd be interested in what you think is unrealistic. Price for the skip is from a local company we used whilst getting building work done last year. Maybe you're not looking hard enough for a good price? Maybe...

    Fair enough. The work hasn't started yet tbh I'm just trying to work out typical pricing for negotiation and whether I'd be as well taking on responsibility for some elements of the build myself. But i think we agree that £4k is too much to buy the materials and pay for the labour of an...

    So at £200 a day each (which seems a lot for a brickie, this is the NW not London!) you're looking at more like £3k max in total. I think the problem is I'm being quoted landscape gardener rates rather than brickie rates. That's what I'm trying to establish really.

    4k and i thought that seemed a lot! Although i had underestimated the price of the materials.

    It's an add on to a bigger job. Just thought I might get a ball park figure on here. Can't see how you could possibly justify £5k, but i am very much not an expert hence why i am not just doing it myself.

    >5k? :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: 200 blocks ~ £400 1 tonne sand = £40 200kg cement = £30 20ish square metres coverage of k-rend = 10 bags ~ £120 2m3 for footings ~ £200 1 skip = £120 that's < £1000 and then £4000 labour?? That's like £20 a block! At £200 a day that's...

    Rendered block planter

    Been quoted rather more than I expected for a couple of rendered block planters to be built in our rear garden. I wonder what people would consider reasonable for a 5000x600x800 and 3000x600x800 (length, width, height) planter, with appropriate foundations and rendered white in K-Rend (or...

    Boiler upgrade for extension

    After reading around the forum I've now learned that 3 bar is the static pressure, which is not the same as the dynamic pressure and it's this that might be more relevant? One post seemed to suggest measuring the pressure and then opening enough taps until the pressure drops to 1.5 bar, then...

    Actually flow rate is maybe more like 17 litres per minute, would adding an accumulator make sense if more than one shower is required to run at the same time?

    Boiler upgrade for extension

    Just to add a bit more detail. I've just measured the water pressure and it's just under 3 bar with flow rate of ~20 litres per minute. Does this sound good enough?

    What's the alternative if cylinder not ok?
