    That's great! i have tried nothing so far, bar a small pot to collect the water.. but that's seems precisely what i'm after- an inexpensive fix to float me to the end of my tenancy. thankyou, sir, for your prompt responses and pinpoint knowledge. Thanks- Jamie

    in light of that, i do believe i have a spiggot- the tapering end of the carrot being that which slots into the grey water pipe- and this is where the water is actually leaking from.

    I don't mean to sound dense, but there is no joint to tighten- neither of the connections are threaded. i think it's really just a matter of the connection being too loose- does that imply that i need a different waste water pipe, or the "other" part? Thanks again.
