Hi,
I have an 18 month old Potterton Promax HE combi boiler with a Grasslin mechanical timer. Since the heating season started the timer has been sticking. Not a problem until recently but now it's turned cold I don't know if I'm coming home to a cold house. Given its age, it only functioned...
It depends on whether the extract fan is mains voltage or whether it is a low voltage unit. From what you describe, if the fan is mains voltage, then it would certainly contravene the IEE regulations. A low voltage fan will have a transformer unit located remotely from the fan to step down the...
Morning,
In about two hours I have a boiler installer coming round to give me a quote for a replacement for my old Saunier Duval 623 Thelia which has a heating output of about 23 KW and a flow rate of 9.5L at 35 degrees temp rise.
The Baxi 80HE has similar spec for at about £700 trade for...
Nick and Agile have understood what I'm saying ie boiler currently has flue exiting out of the side casing (phew!!!). I need the same configuration again as the space above the boiler is occupied already (by the cooker hood extract duct).
In answer to your question Nick, there is limited scope...
You misunderstand me. The point is that a vertical flue would occupy the space over the boiler which is already occupied by the cooker extract duct - and which there is nowhere else for it to go.
So what I'm asking is whether there is a boiler which doesn't only have a vertical flue option? I...
My current combi boiler is located in the kitchen mounted at 90 degrees to the outside wall. The flue of the current boiler exits through the side casing about a third of the way down the boiler.
I'm hoping I'll be able to find a replacement make of boiler with a similar flue configuration...
Recently had a problem involving the pump sticking on my boiler but was able to free it and all is now working again.
Question is does the CH pump stop operating when hot water is called for? Reason I ask is that there is what I can best describe as constant and very irritating chattering...
The chemical was Kilrock system cleanser. Turning the spindle has free'd it so it's now firing up the heating but it sounds harsh and noisy.
Will try flushing it through a few times and see how it goes.
Have opened each rad in turn and there's water bleeding out from each, no air. Just took the screw cap off the front of the pump to turn the spindle and it feel gritty when turned.
About two weeks ago I put system descaler in. Instructions said to leave in for three weeks. Could this be...
Just walked in from work to a cold flat. The central heating hasn't come on at the time set. Nothing happens at all when I try to turn it on manually. Boiler is firing up for hot water though. I just touched the pump casing just now and it's so hot that I burnt my finger tip. Is this the sign of...
Yesterday I bought some Kilrock leak sealer to see if it works on my pressure loss. Have checked the expansion vessel and it is pressurised to 10 psi (manual states 15 psi) and there is nothing discharging from the expansion pipe, so I'm assuming that it is a small leak somewhere ot of sight...
No I taped a plastic bag onto the end of the o/s pipe and left it there for a week. Not a drop hence my assumption that it's a leak somewhere out of sight.
I have Sunier Duval Thelia 623 wall hung combination boiler. Recently I've been having problems with a loss of pressure possibly due to a small leak somewhere rather than an expansion vessel problem. Either way other than a need to put a very small amount of water into the system about once a...
Update to this is that taking the side of the casing off gives easy access to the expansion vessel in which there was zero pressure, though no water coming out of the valve. I reduced the pressure in the system to zero and tried to put 1.5 bar into the vessel with a pump but each time I watched...
