Hi, quotes are coming through, varied to say the least. Currently ranging from £95-£170!! Advice needed on how long this job should roughly take as one quote stated Two hours (£130 for labour). Would it really take that long? Or am I being taken advantage of? Cooker has chains on back, new hose...

Olympia, West Kensington. Have requested quotes from six contacts off gas safe register website. No replies as yet. Cooker would require a new hose, and because the old cooker was unable to be taken away (because it wasn't disconnected in time for delivery of new one) need that sorting out too!

Cooker has arrived and as of yet to be installed, does have ffd's so that's good news. Thanks for everybody's help :D

So is FSD the same thing as FFD? And what does OP mean? Am a complete novice to this so don't always understand what some accronnyms stand for :? Must say this forum is great for learning new stuff! Can you tell me if new cooker will come with chain? as our old one is so old it has never had one!

Cookers spec states it is/has FSD. Is that what you mean by FFD's?

Not been asked that by anyone. Ordered cooker from argos website. We live in a flat, 2nd floor up. Cooker we have at mo is very old, isn't secured by a chain. Its an old London Cooker.

Didn't realise buying a new cooker was going to be so difficult! Should have included installation when ordering cooker in first place. We do have a friend who is corgi registered but NOT gas safe registered who doesn't want to help. Been checking out websites and found arguments on both...

Looking for help and advice about disconnecting an old gas cooker and connecting a new one, which is being delivered on friday. installation costs are expensive and we were hoping we could do this ourselves. Can it be done or do we have to involve the professionals?
