...got in a local chap who easily fixed it. Removed the heating unit. As the rubber seal had (as expected) bulged under the weight of the drum it was impossible to fit back so I had a new one. Cost £48 call out + £25 part = £73. Damn sight cheaper than Indesit @ £120 or their insuance for £170+!
Managed to get to the sump area underneath. the screw that tightens a metal ring around the rubber sump area was not the easiest thing to get to and undo and do back up. Anyway , got it off and the wire was certainly not there. Put my fingers in as far could reach but could not feel it. Reckon...
