    Condensate Trap

I understand your comment and to be fair I hate insurances, I don't have any on appliances in the house. Im just happy to have heating and hot water for me and my little girl. The thought of not having this for over a week, maybe two weeks when the weather is getting colder is unimaginable...

    Condensate Trap

If I put it into the bank it will get spent on something else as there is always something to pay out for. I've been thinking of getting insurance out for a while as I know boilers can cost a fortune if they go wrong. They are charging me a discount price of £15 pm which covers the boiler and...

    Condensate Trap

I'm sure he would have tested it for carbon monoxide before he left. BG are charging £99 for fixing the fault but I had to take out their insurance which is what I wanted so I don't have to go through this again. They are invoicing me so I don't have to pay the £99 up front. He is coming back...

    Condensate Trap

Update - engineer came, has to order part. Put tape around split in hose so I can have heating. Still dripping water slightly but he said it wasn't dangerous.

    Condensate Trap

As per my previous comment, I totally understand what people were saying. I didn't realise the dangers of the problem until the others pointed it out (I am a single mum hence coming onto this forum for advice) so I'm not sure why the comment from Dan was posted!!!! No advice there, just seems...

Thanks muggles, I will try and find someone who is happy to invoice.

    Condensate Trap

I totally understand what you are saying and appreciate your advice, I was hoping that the boiler being in the garage which is well ventilated would be ok (if it was in the house I would be very concerned). I will leave the boiler off until I can get an expert to come. I don't have a credit...

    Condensate Trap

It is grey, similar to a washing machine flexi hose. I know I should get an expert in but don't have the money at the moment. Would it cause problems if I put waterproof tape around the split for a short term solution until I can get someone round in a couple of days. I need heating as I have...

    Condensate Trap

Many thanks for your replies. One more question, can anything on the boiler cause the hose to split or do they just split over time? The boiler is only 5 years old.

    Condensate Trap

I didn't realise it would do any harm taking the cover off. When an engineer services a boiler, do they have special tools to reseal it? The boiler is located in my garage with plenty of ventilation not in the house. I will keep it switched off until I have the funds to call out an engineer...

    Condensate Trap

The boiler is a Potterton Promax Combi HE Plus 28. Water was leaking from boiler, from further inspection I noticed a split in the flexi hose which connects to the condensate trap and goes up into the boiler.

Can anyone tell me if a blocked condensate trap can cause the flexi hose inside boiler to split?

Potterton combi HE Plus 28 boiler

I have a problem with my Potterton combi HE Plus 28 boiler. We noticed a very bad leak coming from the boiler. When taking off the front cover, I noticed the leak was coming from the flexi hose which is connected to the condensate trap (the hose connects to the trap one end and goes up into...
