:):) My first thought was no it's just the one switch and then I looked around and low and behold another switch which operates the hall light aswell! I've only lived here 27 years! So yes - one way for the porch, 2 way for hall and 2 way for landing.

This is the final wiring I went with that works

Don't know but the middle switch is for landing and obviously is also switched on the landing too. Otherwise the two others are just individual on/off for hall and outside.

OK - these are the pics taken when I was taking it apart on the old switch. I'll add the finished new one tomorrow. I've no idea what I've done or how it works - would be good to understand how it works.

Thanks for your replies. I decided to enlarge and edit the photos I had taken on my phone. Cleared them up and got the colours brighter. Put them on the computer so they were nice and big And hey presto manged to deduce enough from the various markings, dirt and paint marks to wire it back up...
