Energenie Mihome switches require dimmable bulbs

I see the issue now. I raised this thread to solve the problem of Energenie Mihome switches not working with non-dimmable LED's and I gave the solution of a 47K 2W metal film resistor across the bulbs. Ericmark you have confused this with the perennial problem of dimming LED's for which I am...

Energenie Mihome switches require dimmable bulbs

To use a capacitor you need one capable of carrying the current of 0.5mA. The question is which capacitor?; which you have not told us. I have seen capacitors used as so called lossless voltage droppers in the past and were very unreliable. As we don't know the circuitry inside the mihome switch...

Energenie Mihome switches require dimmable bulbs

I have the answer now. Connect a 47k 2W axial lead metal film resistor across any one of the light bulbs. This provides enough leakage current to enable the Energenie mihome switch to work. I have tested this with 2 different non-dimmable LED's and a CFL lamp and they all work.

Energenie Mihome switches require dimmable bulbs

I bought some Mihome switches (not dimmer switches) to be able to automate my external lights which are fitted with non dimmable LED's. I fitted the first switch only for the lights not to work. I don't really want to have to change all the LED lamps to dimmable at added expense. Does anyone...

Energenie Miihome multi socket causing RCD to trip

I wondered if anyone else is having this problem. I have a ENER010 4way trailing socket. It works fine through the house RCD but trips a Wylex WRS 80/2 2 pole RCD fitted in my shed.

Vaillant Turbomax plus F22 fault 10 mins after HW demand

Thanks Gasguru. I will do that. I have been wondering if there is nothing wrong but the setup.

Vaillant Turbomax plus F22 fault 10 mins after HW demand

Here is an update: No changes to the boiler and it still gives an occasional F22 and very occasional F29. Seems like the coming of the cold weather has had some effect and made F22's less likely. F29 is a 'no gas' error. Not sure why that happens but it happens very rarely. There does not seem...

Vaillant Turbomax plus F22 fault 10 mins after HW demand

To the upper heat exchanger 61 deg C in - 54 deg C out Below to the hot water 42 deg C out - 20 deg C in I bought a new differential thermocouple meter.

Vaillant Turbomax plus F22 fault 10 mins after HW demand

Patience gasguru. I am an engineer but boilers are not my speciality. I do understand heat exchangers. What should the temperatures be on the plate heat exchanger? I think we must have been at cross purposes. Top left is the output of the diverter valve so should be the outlet of the main heat...

Vaillant Turbomax plus F22 fault 10 mins after HW demand

I have the boiler set to 60 deg. I will test again on maximum but this is pointing to the main heat exchanger at the top isn't it?

Vaillant Turbomax plus F22 fault 10 mins after HW demand

Left side much hotter than the right. Changed the emissivity on my IR thermometer (didn't know I could do that so thanks!) Temp 45 deg in and about 35 out

Vaillant Turbomax plus F22 fault 10 mins after HW demand

The cold inlet is about 25 deg C and the outlet is at about 40 deg C measured at the heat exchanger. The hot water setting is at 60 deg C. I used an infra red thermometer so readings are always a bit iffy but I think these are near enough correct. Re pumps you are right. I think I bought from...

Inlet and outlet of the primary or secondary?

Vaillant Turbomax plus F22 fault 10 mins after HW demand

Yes. I will change them again but I am puzzled. I will try and match them at 80 deg C as I have several to get a matched pair.

PS I changed the pump as well a year ago for a recon one. Swapped the two pumps a couple of times. No difference between them.
