Thanks for responding so quickly. This is the drawing which probably shows the light more clearly than I explained it! Do you still think it would be a handful to alter, (none of the pieces are detachable, except the shade)? (Am expecting the answer to be yes!)

I have a brass light fight fitting which is a pendant on a brass pole attached/sealed to the ceiling rose at the top and then also sealed to the bulb part at the bottom. I need to make the pole shorter as it is too long for the height of the room. Do you think this is possible as it would need...
