    Acrylic Baths ... thickness

They can vary in thickness across the molding. Sometimes even the thick ones have thin spots on them, especially around the edges of the wooden insert in the base. If its rigidity you're after you can improve it a lot by mounting them firmly.

    Questions about Analogue TV Distribution

I haven't kept pace with the developments in tuners as digital has taken hold. For years I could of answered the question outright but sadly not now. You have all the TVs that have been around during the changeover that will be certainly dual standard. Like SimonH2 was saying they're made for a...

BAS, which piece of research are you pulling on there?

Fire-rated downlights in extension? Electrician right?

I would argue that plasterboard and lathe & plaster was a fire barrier. I would also argue, and this is might be what the electricians have in mind, that it's good working practice to leave a building with similar or better fire resistance after the job as before. And that would mean not leaving...

    Sky Set Top Box Issue

It's unlikely that the storm moved the dish unless it was loose. How do you know the new LNB gives a good signal if signal strength is zero? Going from some signal to none at all suggests the new LNB isn't in the sweet spot. Has the cable got water in it?

Freeview: picture is naff until it warms up!

Sounds like a bad joint (on the printed circuit board, not in your hand) or a bad component somewhere. I'd send it back before the warranty expires. If the manual mentions a 'High definition 405 line system' then this would be a standard feature.

Replacing flex on a Bosch built-in oven

If that manual is the right one, and it looked like it was the right one, it says 'Connection have to be made using a mains connection cable not lighter than H05RR-F 300 V / 500 V Rubber Flexible Cable or H05VV-F 300V / 500V PVC Flexible Cable.' H05RR-F is this stuff...

    Question About Volt Drop

John, check what the caching settings in your browser are set to. Some browsers cache things to varying degrees and this maybe effecting what you're seeing. It can make setup of some equipment with a web interface complete madness if its turned on.

    RCBO Tripping

I suppose with IR testing especially at 1kV, that in places like cellars, and anywhere else that gases could collect, you'd have to be wary of igniting something from a dodgy contact somewhere. The longer the cable the more stored charge for it found a jumpable gap. The dielectric strength of...

    RCBO Tripping

The couple of older IR testers I've metered for voltage kept the output volts there for as long as your finger was on the button. Is the pulse thing a modern development? I was wanting to see what happens to T&E at those kinds of test voltages with a spread of different wire (new, not so new...

    RCBO Tripping

That's terribly practical John. And it skips past one big reason for doing it - to see a piece of T&E lose it in style and grabbing a picture of it. :D Seriously though, the reason for doing it was just out of interest. What I really need is a step up transformer that's ideally...

    Drill for 4" core drilling

I bought an AEG core drill a couple of years ago for £190 new. Its at another house at the mo, so not sure of the exact model number, but its very similar if not identical to the AEG DB15002XE. 1.5Kw and 110v. Has a clutch which works fine and a long and configurable side arm handle (with a...

    RCBO Tripping

At the moment, sadly, the current test gear inventory prevents me from putting that to the test and providing you with a figure. The only source I have capable of those kinds of voltages isn't very controllable. Should that change you'll be the first to know.
