So the pin insert is fine, but the hole it goes in to has something metal at the end, at the far reach of the pin, that doesn’t move. Presumably should be springy and is stuck closed. No amount of poking or hammering it has changed. Next would be unscrewing the outer insert but I’ve no tool that...
Actually this is the same issue - it’s moving freely as in we can manually pull it in and out with no resistance.
It doesn’t “spring” back because the washer inside is stuck closed and not pushing the pin back. We can slide it back but they won’t pull the washer back (some other designs may be...
It looks like an older style RA-FN type but a different looking insert so probs incompatible with anything on the market, am yet to find the actual model number for the valve (it’s got 1/208 printed on it, possibly implying 1/2 connectors with 8mm union).
Heh thanks, will try tappy tapping the valve it to free the washer (pins already moving free but with no spring/resistance). If I get to unscrewing the insert I’ll let you know how it goes.
So no one answered OP’s question, and I have the same issue - valve stuck with an old Danfoss TRV (neither the pin nor the head are the issue - the pin’s moving freely because the valve / spring is stuck).
OP did you ever fix this? I’m wondering if screwing out the pin insert will allow enough...
Not quite the same model but from a similar era (mid 2000s).
similar wiring, from https://talk.electricianforum.co.uk/topic/33283-storage-heater-problem-no-power-at-night-to-charge/
from meter's tech spec...
Thanks. I've had a look at SP website and they class TwinHeat(A or B) as either a meter "type" (with seperate tariffs), a tariff itself, or both - but mostly not much info anywhere. There is a sidenote in a dropdown of an obscure page saying TwinHeat can be used both for heating and anything...
Thanks John, and yes (images updated) the left only has storage heaters.
I'm ultimately trying to decide whether it's worth installing gas for heating, which is getting more likely if nothing else benefits from daytime off-peak. Guess I'll have to speak to the supplier to see what they know.
Hey all, have a question on an Economy 7 style meter that I'm guessing someone here can answer quicker than trying to ask a random CS person down the phone.
I'm moving in to a new property in North Wales with what has been (and may still be) on a TwinHeat B tarriff (basically E7 but between...
