    Fence post repair.

Thanks for that detailed reply. There are only 4 posts to deal with, so I can take my time and make sure the job is done properly. Thanks again.

    Fence post repair.

Thanks for that - I never realised that keeping concrete wet for a period makes it cure more effectively. What mix would be best (for strength).

    Fence post repair.

I have some wobbly fence posts - not rotten, just not buried deep enough by the contractor - the soil is soft and prone to water retention. In the past, I have used concrete repair spurs to steady wobbly posts, but where we are there are no merchants within driving distance who sell them, and...

    Which insulation method for walls?

Our house is of block and render construction on the main house and brick on the extension. The house and extension are at least 30 years old and of cavity construction with no insulation in the cavity. We are looking at adding insulation and are having conflicting advice as to which way to...

    Masonry paint on radiators

Problem is that the radiator paint comes in a limited colour choice.

    Masonry paint on radiators

It simply says it is suitable for exterior use but says nothing about excluding internal use. Why would it not be suitable for interior use - if they use chemicals that could emit noxious fume that would have to be clearly marked on the tub. Perhaps I'll call the manufacturer tomorrow.

    Masonry paint on radiators

Has anyone any experience in using smooth masonry paint on radiators. We have a large amount of masonry paint left over and the colour would be ideal for freshening up our radiators - but not sure if it is likely to be any worse than using an interior matt or silk interior paint rather than...

Question re gas boiler service and 'Safety Record.

The supplier was Appliances Direct, but they keep referring me to their warranty company (who I think may be part of the same group). I reported that one of the 3 ovens was overheating a month after I bought it. Tey refused to deal with it until I had obtained the certificate. 6 months later the...

Question re gas boiler service and 'Safety Record.

I did that, but they insist they do, and suggested if I wasn't happy to take them to court.

Question re gas boiler service and 'Safety Record.

Thanks guys - so a question related to an appliance (Range Cooker). If there is no regulation to govern the issue of a certificate at the time of installation of an appliance, how can an appliance warranty company insist on seeing one prior to sending out an engineer to reair it - particularly...

Question re gas boiler service and 'Safety Record.

I have just found the information shown in the attached on the Gas Safe site. The implication is that for residential homeowners (not landlords or tenants) there is nor regulation governing the issue of a safety certificate when either installing or servicing gas equipment - is this correct?

Question re gas boiler service and 'Safety Record.

Thanks for the confirmation. So if there is no central register of certificate details, how is their issue policed, indeed, is there any obligation on an engineer to issue one (I am thinking about residential customers rather than landlords).

Question re gas boiler service and 'Safety Record.

On the subject of gas certificates, when an engineer issues one, are copies registered with Gas Safe, or is it just the engineer who keeps a copy?
