    House Mains Water Supply

Hi, I need to get the stopcock in the kitchen replaced, the mains shut off valve is under the pavement outside the property, can the plumber turn it off or do I need to contact the water company to do it? Phil

    What Do You Think?

Hi, yes he was registered otherwise I wouldn't have considered him. Phil

    What Do You Think?

To be honest Chris I don't want him back, this was only one of four radiators he replaced and a boiler he fitted, but although the other radiators are not too bad they all have the plastic push fittings on them, I will get them all changed to copper. Phil

    What Do You Think?

Hi, didn't notice before he left otherwise I would have pulled him on it, it was fitted about a month ago. Phil

    What Do You Think?

I'm no plumber but I reckon even I could have done a better job. Unfortunately to put it right means draining the whole system down again which I can do without at the moment, I wouldn't mind if the pipe was straight. Phil

    What Do You Think?

Had a new radiator installed by a heating engineer, what do you experts reckon to this? Phil

    Fabdec Excelsior Hot Water Cylinder?

I have had a pumped shower for 8 years and can't call it noisy by any means, it gives a hum that is barely audible and gives a fairly powerful shower, I would happily stay with a pumped shower but it is the header tank in the loft for the HW cylinder that is in a bad way and I would like to...

    Fabdec Excelsior Hot Water Cylinder?

Will I still need a cold water supply tank in the loft with a vented HW cylinder, I was hoping to do away this this. Phil

    Fabdec Excelsior Hot Water Cylinder?

Hi All, I happened to mention that I was considering replacing my ageing boiler and vented HW cylinder with a Veissmann Vitodens 200-W System boiler and the HW cylinder with the above unvented indirect one, my main reasoning is that has a self sustaining air gap and doesn't need an expansion...

Salamander RP50 PH 1.5 bar Pump Problem

Hi, I had to exchange the pump for the previous model (RSP50) without the crossover pipe, I found that the introduction of the crossover pipe was a nuisance. If and when this one needs replacing I will probably move to a different make or see if Salamander start to sell one without the pipe. I...

Salamander RP50 PH 1.5 bar Pump Problem

Will check the installation manual, the shower is ok, it is about the same pressure as the previous ones. If I can't get this sorted soon I will just buy a Stuart Turner pump that doesn't have this new system and throw this week old one on ebay. Phil

Salamander RP50 PH 1.5 bar Pump Problem

Hi, I understand what you ares aying about the pump crossover but I didn't have this problem with either of the RSP50 pumps, it's only arisen since fitting this pump with the newly introduced crossover technology. I have emailed the manufacturer but they are either very slow to respond or are...

Salamander RP50 PH 1.5 bar Pump Problem

Hi, the overflow stops whether it is the hot or cold supply valve that is closed, as stated the sketch is not accurate, from what I can see of the pipe layout, which isn't much, I think the vent pipe goes into the bottom of the header tank. There is a third header tank for the heating and...

Salamander RP50 PH 1.5 bar Pump Problem

Hi terryplumb, this is the way the plumber installed the shower, I am not aware of the rights or wrongs of the installation. The water is not actually mixing inside the pump the cold is being forced through the pump, I assume by gravity, and up into the hot water header tank, I apologise you are...

Salamander RP50 PH 1.5 bar Pump Problem

Hi, the hot water cylinder header tank and the shower pump cold water header tank are both situated in the loft and are separate, the hot water cylinder is a vented indirect one heated by the boiler, the water is coming out of the hot water cylinder header tank overflow, but while this is...
