When we tried taking a feed from the first one, the main light would not switch off, but 2nd light worked ok. Are we just not giving it enough time to go out?

Hi Can anyone help please, we want to put another security light round side of house. Is it possible to take a feed from the security light that is already at the back of the house, or does it need its own feed? Thank you for any help.
