I may try the self tapping screw. I will let you know the outcome. I think just one of those awkward annoying things that crop up from time to time.

It is replaceable. It is like a smalle screw with a square (well it was) head. But to get at it I would need to take the radiator off as it is on the back of the rad. Would soldering a piece onto the screw work so I wouldn't have to take the damn thing off?

as the valve head is worn. Hard to get a grip with anything now

I cannot seem to loosen the valve. What can I do?
