Thanks for all the replies!
I didn’t realise there were different levels of obscurity with glass and I didn’t even think of applying a film. That sounds like a great option!
Thanks again!
Hi Chaps
Is it possible to retrofit sealed units with integral blinds into existing upvc frames?
I Have a large bathroom window and although it's obscure glass it is actually quite transparent!
If they are available can you suggest a source?
Many thanks!
Thanks for the reply, it’s greatly appreciated!
Yes the red light did cycle on and off, I could tell the oven temperature was dropping because I could see I had to turn the know lower and lower to get the red light to come on over a period of time.
I didn’t realise they had an overheat stat...
I’m not an appliance engineer but as an electrician I have replaced a few oven elements in my time.
Anyway my own oven started playing up yesterday, was cooking for 9 people and it had been on about during the morning.
During a critical time (just as I was getting the Yorkshire pudding in) the...
We actually discovered it when the customer asked us to tighten a loose basin hot tap.
I isolated the cold into the boiler which should have isolated the hot taps but when my lad loosened the tap connector it was still running!
We check all the other hot taps in the property and they were all...
Hi chaps.
Just did a boiler change from vented to combi.
The customer did have a shower which was running through a salamander pump.
The pump has now been removed as it’s redundant but water is mixing in the shower valve and it’s affecting hot water performance dramatically at all hot...
Thanks that is actually very interesting, I have done a little of bit of work with Arduino in the past and in the longer term this would be a great solution.
Meantime I found this...
Hi chaps
Is there such a thing as a wifi input status monitor?

There are inexpensive wifi...
Im really sorry and I totally agree with you, I accidentally posted in the wrong forum. (Small phone, crap eyesight).
When I get home and on a pc I’ll delete the post and copy it to combustion chamber. Thanks for pointing out the mistake!!
I am gas safe registered, I just haven’t ever fitted a boiler with a vertical flue. I imagine you were lucky enough to have fitted one before you fitted one for the first time. Thanks for the help though.
Hi chaps
I’m taking out a Worcester Greenstar tomorrow amd replacing it with an Ideal.
The existing flue is vertical and runs through the attic of the bungalow and terminates near the ridge on a pitched roof.
The new flue will follow the same route.
I’ve never fitted a vertical flue before...
The pump is definitley orientated correctly but I havent checked if there is hot water coming out of the drai. The manifold is cold but I suppose it would be of water isn't moving.
I'll try draining some off when I go back.
Thanks for the help!
