Thanks Turns out the damn thing was limescale shut. Had to put a lot of force into getting it to turn. Need to buy a new washer for it but that's saved my partner calling a plumber out.

Hi So I have the apparently typical constant running cistern problem. My issue is I cannot for the life of me get the damn thing off to check the seal underneath. I've tried twist anti clockwise and lift, looked for clips on either side and it's just not coming free. I really don't want to...
