Happy New Year and apologies for the radio silence last month.
I fitted the new burner a couple of weeks ago and so far so good (y)
It was factory fitted with a 0.60 GPH 80 degrees H nozzle which is correct for my type of boiler, as was the 8 bar pump pressure and air damper adjustment...
I've not considered anything other than the electrical side of the ignition process so far as I've mostly stuck to Riello's fault finding logic.
I don't have a suitable gauge to test the pressure sadly, but shouldn't the burner go to lock out if pressure is insufficient resulting in no flame or...
Right, finally got around to reporting on the solenoid voltages.
Original Grey Control Box
Terminal 1 Brown Wire to Earth.
Start @ 23v >>> 10 seconds >>> finish @ -22v
Terminal 2 Blue Wire to Earth.
Start @ 23.2v >>> 10 seconds >>> finish @ 22.2v
Terminal 8 Black Wire to Earth.
Start @ 23v...
Apologies for my delay in reply and thank you to everyone for all the suggestions.
I've quickly tested the solenoid coil for resistance this evening and get the expected 1.3 ohms from the starting circuit on terminals 2 & 8 of the sub base and the expected 1350 ohms from the running circuit on...
Regular 28 sec kerosene and the output range is 50-82 BTU/HR, but I have no idea what it's set up to unfortunately.
In the Firebird boiler manual the 50-82 model is listed under the "Conventional Flu Boiler House Model" section but when I refer to the start of the manual for the specifications...
I'll run a continuity test later this week on the off chance something is wrong with the wiring.
I've ordered another photocell (Riello this time) in case the generic one is duff.
If I can't get to the bottom of things by the weekend, I think I'll need to consider a new burner unit to get me...
Any ideas are welcome.
Quick search online reveals that "Beckett" is a brand of photocell sold on AliExpress, so perhaps I've bought junk that's not up to specification.

As the burner is approaching 30 years old I thought that particular test procedure may not apply, but I gather the 530SE control box was used much later than that. As far as I know it's a genuine Riello part and came sealed from a reputable source. It's very frustrating as I was hoping it...
Yes, the fan just keeps running and never goes to lockout. Despite what Riello say in their guidance, removing the photocell and running without makes no difference and it still won't lockout.
I fear cjcoffin may be right - I'm not getting that characteristic buzz from the transformer after 12 seconds, so I don't think the ignition sequence is getting as far as producing a spark.
I'm starting to wonder if I should try another photcell from a different source. The new one appeared to...
You can probably tell from the photos in my first post, but the red feed and green return hoses are rigid. Not likely to leak any time soon, but will need disconnecting fully before I can remove the burner so probably a job for the weekend now.
I think I'm at the stage where it needs to come...
This is the very basic control panel which has a flow temperature thermostat and a resettable high temperature limit thermostat. If the latter is triggered I should see an orange neon lit, but resetting it seems to have no effect in any case.
The fan starts whirring then after about 9 seconds I hear what I believe is the solenoid clicking, but that's it. Fan stays on permanently after that with no attempt at ignition.
When the boiler worked previously, I would hear the buzzing shortly before ignition but it doesn't seem to get far...
