    DIY kitchen suppliers

Hi, Since posting this thread, almost 3 years ago, I have purchased 3 full kitchens from '121'. The company (or the retail bit) is run by a father and son team. I have had no problems with them at all, apart from the usual bits missing on delivery but I think everyone does this...

Help with Thermecon oil boiler please!!

a follow up on this: Had the boiler serviced today. It turns out that not only was the air valve shut down, but there was a partial blockage in the air inlet hose (cobwebs and bugs!). Some of this debris had found its way into the burner, hence the smoke and soot. I would like to say a...

    Bosch/Siemens buying advice please

Bosch are pretty good, but bear in mind many 'brands' are made by others with subtle differences. Our Siemens dishwasher is a Bosch. Our siemens fridge was a samsung etc etc

    Bosch/Siemens buying advice please

My 2p worth too. In 2006 we bought a Siemens american fridge/freezer. It was twice the price of an equivalent Samsung, but it looked nice. It was a Samsung, with a siemens control panel! Anyway, the compressor packed up 2 weeks after the 2 year warranty ran out. As I am a refrigeration...

Most CEF (City Electrical factors) branches do both. They WILL try to rip you off, though!

    Which Hammer Drill.

I would only buy Bosch professional (blue) range of SDS. My little sds with rotostop (cant remember the model and too cold to check in the van) cost under £100.00 a short while ago. It will break whatever I have asked it to and never complained. My sds gets lots of use as I don't have a...

Water leaking into consumer unit!!! (What do you do?)

You've got three choices really, haven't you? 1. Don't worry about it. If the joint don't leak now, why should it start anytime soon? 2. Move all of the plumbing away from the 'lectrics 3. Move the 'lectrics away from the plumbing. I would have thought it was bl**dy obvious! :)...

Hi Tibbot, The boiler is set up for 100,000 btu/h according to a little sticker on it. I don't have a manual so the figures are irrelevant!

Help with Thermecon oil boiler please!!

I've opened the air valve up to 4 and fired up the boiler. No smell of kerosene and no black smoke from the flue! I think I made a boo-boo! Next question is how to dismantle baffles to clean all the sh**, I mean soot out. Then I can just get the boiler bloke to analyse the gases and...

Help with Thermecon oil boiler please!!

Hi John, I've just had a horrible thought! When the house was empty all services were de-commissoned; the water was drained and isolated and electrics turned off. I'm wondering if the company hired to shut the services down have shut the air valve down too? (although why they would I don't...

Hello, Thanks for the replies! Yes it has a 'Minor 4 HES' burner The air door is set at its minimum setting (about 0.5 on scale of 0-9). Will increasing this increase air volume? I don't really want to take air from the room as it's a small room and we have a problem with oxygen in the...

Help with Thermecon oil boiler please!!

Hi, We have a Thermecon 100/150 floor standing oil boiler with balanced flue. It has not been used very much since we moved in (July 2009), 10 mins twice a day to heat water, but obviously has been used more in the last couple of weeks. Anyway it has started to soot the end of the flue in...
