Miele corded vacuum motor speed varies

Worth a look. It might be as simple as a bit of grime/dust on the contacts. Thanks for the suggestion.

Miele corded vacuum motor speed varies

As mentioned in my first post, I did all the dismantling, examining and fettling possible, including taking the motor apart. Vacuum worked fine for some days after replacing the box capacitor - charge capacity having been a little over 50% - but it 'relapsed'. It completely stopped working the...

Miele corded vacuum motor speed varies

Just found out something potentially useful... By completely blocking the hose with my hand (making sure the flow regulator on the handle is closed), the motor responds by 'hunting' (for the demand power) at a higher speed. Playing with this phenomenon by removing my hand and blocking the hose...

Miele corded vacuum motor speed varies

Thanks for replying. Sorry to hear you didn't fix yours yet. Good point about something damaging the capacitor; didn't occur to me. Hmm... Did you find a good replacement at least?

Miele corded vacuum motor speed varies

I just wondered... Could faulty motor bearings (which I don't remember inspecting) cause this sort of problem?

Miele corded vacuum motor speed varies

Hello. Same problem here! Paltibine, did you manage to sort it out? If so, what were the cause and the solution? I have an old Miele S762, old but in good condition, or so I thought. Here's a video of the problem, same or similar to the way Paltibine described it: motor speeds up and down on...

Replacing Twin-cam Euro Cylinder in a Banham 363 Lock?

Hello. Home insurance up for renewal. Also, I've been reading about an increase in lock "snapping" type break-ins so I've decided to update the front door main lock, an old Banham 363 type with a 73mm twin-cam double cylinder - and no Kite Mark. (I'd prefer to replace the whole lock but it's...

Thanks, Harry. Should I worry about this?

Fuse panel hot unit, smell in corridor below?

And by the way, eSure Home Insurance's Emergency Cover doesn't cover electrical stuff! How useful is that?! There's a reason this optional cover was offered to me for free... Can I do the replacement (if it's necessary) of the doorbell transformer myself? Just shut off mains supply, remove...

Fuse panel hot unit, smell in corridor below?

As requested, hope this is clear enough... I also attach a cryptic message left in my father's handwriting (actually recopied in mine cos original was slick with black liquid - see below)... And finally... in case the original purpose of this thread has been forgotten ... A...

Fuse panel hot unit, smell in corridor below?

Thank you, one and all, for your input... Neutral or otherwise. :ROFLMAO: Didn't know about the doorbell transformer but learned something new. I'm hoping that's the only source of the warm-plastic-and-old-wood smell that's been puzzling me for a while until I felt around in the meter 'n' fuse...

Fuse panel hot unit, smell in corridor below?

Title says it all, really. There is a small grey plastic unit under the fuse box, as per attached photos. It is very warm and there is some blackening behind it on the wood panel it's fitted upon. What might this unit be and what should I do about it? I've no idea how long it's been like this...
