I think I will just give up.. thanks to all who have tried to help but it seems hopeless..

system is 15mm... the two 22mm that rise upstairs are teed into and returned downstairs from just above the boiler downstairs

Right system has been fully drained, refilled and the loop pipe has been broken with a gate valve now... here is the next problem all the radiators downstairs are still warm to cold but at the inlet valve on all rads the valves are very warm ? would this be normal and I have just not noticed it...

he is not interested, he thinks I should get it properly tested by an expert etc etc obviously he latched onto fact vokera engineer was last on job so it would just turn into a bun fight... easier to accept a mistake and get it corrected..

Yes I used wrong wording, I was just going to undo those compression joints and cap them and yes I can drain system... do you think two of those pipes should be returned and he has linked wrong ones? I am going to lift some boards tomorrow and see what pipes are heading where... If it does...

Right so what is worst that can happen if I cut and cap off both 22mm pipes am I right in saying system will just close down if its wrong as it would be same as all rads closing yes ? the 22mm loop is the last place I feel heat like that it then its back to the boiler... no where else in house...

Had another look ... the two 22mm pipes that are joined back to each other seem to be the live and return from the boiler, half way up the pipe duct just above boiler is two tees with 15mm pipes they in turn have another tee and feeds upstairs radiators and down and I suppose supply the...

Is there an easy way to test / check for this situation ??

pannierstan your estimation of job is correct.. the boiler is still in old boilers position, In answer to price he was not the person employed to do the job, I was suppose to be using someone else but then his previous job ran on ... so another guy turned up to get job done... cost £1500 I...
