I know this is an OLD thread, but I was the OP and the relevant photos/discussion is all in this thread so I hope this is ok.
First, an update to the above issue: I found out that if my boiler control panel was heating my hot water at the same time as I was trying to recharge the air gap, then...
Bizarreness ensues. Having left it manually set open for a week or so, the actuator started clicking loudly every second, so I decided it was time to call the insurance people. I have full central heating cover (apparently!) so they sent someone out to replace both of my DVs - for both zones...
Thanks for the reply.
I should add that I know NOTHING about central heating systems, and switching the DV to manual was something I just found by reading up on here.
Am I right in thinking that with it left open in the manual position, that the rads on that circuit will be "on all the time"?
Hi,
I have a 3-storey house with a boiler and CH programmer downstairs and a MegaFlo tank on the middle floor (in an airing cupboard with lots of pipes).
There is a simple dial thermostat on the ground floor and a more sophisticated electronic one on the top floor. Right now the programmer...
I have concealed door closers on every internal door of my house, which I have never minded until recently because they've all started squeaking. I've been spraying 3-in-1 into the hole where the chain comes out, which makes it squeak-free for a couple of days, after which the squeaking returns...
So what would one of those look like? I have this red thing in my airing cupboard above the Megaflo (ignore the comments - this pic is from another of my posts):
Is that a cold water storage tank? It's very small, and I have to open the little black valves every few months or so to...
Ok, maybe I'm using the wrong word. There is a red pump in my airing cupboard, a few inches above floor level, next to the Megaflo.
Coming out and upward from that is a fat pipe that feeds about 3 of those little silver timer valve boxes (I assume this is what these are - they're wired into...
Thanks John.
I kinda worked myself that the cold taps must be fed from the mains pressure, but I got a bit confused when thinking about how the hot water got its pressure. I can't imagine how the hot water can "inherit" the mains pressure since it just sits inside the hot water cyclinder...
Hi,
Forgive me if this is answered elsewhere, but I couldn't find anything appropriate using the search.
I want to replace my taps in my en-suite with Hansgrohe Allegra Talis S units, which are available in either high or low pressure. I want to buy these before calling in a plumber to...
Thanks Joe - that's really helpful! I found the combination valve I think, but I'm a little confused with the pipes I've got so I took some pics:
This is where all the "magic" takes place...
...and this one I've included just for some context as to where all those pipes go!
In the...
