I found some skirting online that's 50mm thick. Thinking of either laying this on top of the current floor, leaving a gap underneath ( may need some wood attached underneath to hold the current floor), or getting some smaller skirting and beading then fixing the skirting about 10mm away from...

the gap would be about 40mm.. thinking of getting either some 50mm skirting and placing over the current floor or normal sized skirting but raising it away from the gap then using edging. either i think will solve the issue of it rotting and I’ve a nice channel to put any wires in..
