I've ordered the M5. There's no hurry, as I only noticed the bolts (not screws - they go into metal, threaded sockets) were missing today after using the chair for years. I've had an education in bolts today, for which I am grateful to the various commenters here.

I'll have to look hard for local stores, as all the hardware shops long since closed down. There might be somewhere.

Local hardware store? Sadly, they no longer exist. My town here in north-east England had perhaps four or five when I was young in the 70s. None remains, the last being the Wilko chain that infamously went bust a couple of years ago. Anyway, I'm fairly sure it's an M5 20mm, so I'll order those.

I have the key and two bolts. I need two more bolts but the sizing chart is confusing me.

M5 20mm was what I thought, only for me to become confused when I read the chart on the Kay's ebay site. So I'll get those (there'll be trouble if they don't fit!) Thank you.

Ummm... even more confused. I have the correct Allen key for the bolt. The key has inscribed on it CR-V 5mm. So which bolt is that for, as in which M number is it?

Thanks for that advice. I can see no other evidence of this internally or externally, so it seems to be the plaster.

Success! I pushed a bit of card into the tube with the plastic fitting with the chain and it's much tighter. Blind rolls down and up. Simple! And not a penny spent.
