I've found the fault, there was a blocked manifold with some sort of sensor pipe attached at the base of the drum next to the heater. After flushing it out the washer cycles and empties normally now, although I still need a new heating element as it is open circuit.

Can I just start by thanking you for your help. The water level was approx half way up the door. I'll get some pics up shortly.

Yes water is stone cold.
