    Adding Room stat

I have a fully pumped S plan HW/CH system with a potterton EP2001 programmer, but no room stat at all. Given the escalating Oil price it seems to make some sense, to say the least, to add one. Can someone guide me what would be the simplest stat to add and where this wires in ? Cheers

Well that's my weekend planned. Thanks for the help.

    Perplexing heating / water problem

Can I ask for a summary of the pages of discussion here of a suggested set of actions ? My initial plan is to: 1. Drain the system. 2. Remove the section of return pipe back into the boiler and replace 3. Refill and test. If this doesn't work then I guess the next thing is to rework the...

    Perplexing heating / water problem

We've got incredibly hard water here, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a fair amount of limescale throughout the system. Is there a treatment to put through the system to clear this out ?

    Perplexing heating / water problem

I've done a check with a magnet as someone suggested and found that the magnet sticks to the horizontal return pipe at the bottom of the inverted T where the feed pipe joins. From what i've read of the mind bending discussion that's been going on here this means the pipe contains some sort of...

    Perplexing heating / water problem

I'm pretty certain there are no connections to the vent or feed pipe other that those shown in the pictures. They are boxed in outside the wall so i'll lever the cover off and check. They then go straight through the ceiling to the tank. The pipes are pretty short as the tank is in the...

Well, yes. Several times. Although having seen the lovely oxygenating fountain we had in the loft until I turned the pump down it's not hard to see why.

    Perplexing heating / water problem

Blimey, it looks like you're all as perplexed as I am. The house is a converted farm building. It was converted 10 years ago which would be when the heating was installed. As far as I know no adaptions / alterations have been made since. We moved into the house in November. The radiators...

It's pumping down. I've also go the book for the pump (a Grundfos UPS) it says that pumping downwards in a vertical pipe is acceptable but not recommended.

Attached are some pictures of the connections to the boiler. Pic 1 shows the flow at the top into the pump and then branching into two valves for the CH & HW. These then disappear off under the floor to the cylinder and rads. Pic 2 shows the two return pipes joining before the feed /...

    Perplexing heating / water problem

Apologies for the confusion in terminology. When I said expansion I did indeed mean vent. The order certainly appears to be Boiler - Pump - valves - rads/cylinder - feed - vent - boiler I'm absolutely certain i've got the flow direction correct as the boiler is in the utility room with...

    Perplexing heating / water problem

I've taken a few things apart to trace the pipes. I don't seem to have the configuration people here have suggested I should. The expansion is connected into the top of the boiler on the return side, while the feed is connected in after the union of the HW & CH returns on the return side...
