    Glazing bar on skylight

Not bothered to be honest with it poking out a bit, the current window does that and also due to the position of the house we can't see the window from the front or back of the house so never really see it. It's more what it looks like on the inside that matters to us.

    Glazing bar on skylight

Been looking at getting conservation skylight to replace an older style one that is single glazed with a couple of bars down it. Had a few roofers in to get quotes and one actually recommended getting a standard velux style window which is cheaper and then add a glazing bar which doesn’t...

    Cost to replace skylight

Still don't see the issue with using that site to be honest, just seems like some people have had bad luck. The couple of roofers who have contacted me have tons of very good reviews and the odd bad one. Seems like a good system in my view like ebay feedback system so I can see the...

    Cost to replace skylight

How so? I'm giving the original roofer another call to get a break down of his quote. I would rather go with him as he has been good so far for other jobs.

    Cost to replace skylight

Just an update. Tried Rated People and had someone just round now having a look. He quoted £900 to supply and fit. Explaining because it's a large window that has caused the cost to be higher than normal. I explained I was after a conservation skylight like this one...

What would I be expected to pay for neighbours land?

The bit of land we want to buy actually had another small semi-detached house on it but that got pulled down a long time ago. From what we understand the neighbour owned all the houses, so when that house was knocked down he retained the land. Why when he sold my house on he didn't include...

What would I be expected to pay for neighbours land?

That wouldn't really work for us. At the bottom of our garden are some nice large trees that we want to make a part of the garden design we have in mind. Plus that area (in fact my entire garden) needs a lot of work done to it so it's more trouble than it's worth to him. I just want to make...

What would I be expected to pay for neighbours land?

Correct, part of his 1st floor is over the passge. That section of the garden is on a steep slope and what we would have including the bit we want to purchase would be a huge area as it is. Well I wouldn't call it a junk area, his garden is very tidy including that area. There are...

    Cost to replace skylight

A lot less than any roofer would earn that's for sure.

    Cost to replace skylight

I really don't know what to think now with people saying the standard cost is around £250 and other saying it's double that

    Cost to replace skylight

Just thinking, £250 for a day, is that just to cover one person? I thought health and safety laws meant at least 2 people needed to work on a roof? The roofer I use has two lads with him too for the full day.

    Cost to replace skylight

Maybe now the £550 was all inclusive after seeing these prices. I will ring him tomorrow and ask again :)

    Cost to replace skylight

Yup standard slate roof. The £550 I'm sure wasn't all inclusive. I will keep those costs in mind when calling around. thanks.

    Cost to replace skylight

Sorry not sure if this belongs in the roofing sub-forum or Windows one. Our single glazed skylight is causing us nothing but trouble. Lots of condensation in the morning has caused the wooden frame around it to warp and during heavy rainfall you can hear a drip in the cavity wall directly...

What would I be expected to pay for neighbours land?

What part don't you understand? A close perhaps? If so I guess it's a Scottish word for a shared passage/stairwell. As neither house have access round the side there is a shared passage down the middle of the houses.
