Well that's what I thought but the fact that they were experimenting with what matierials provided the best heat source. Just coil a load of polypipe in your compost pile, plumb that into your hot water system and theres a free water heater!

Realising that this subject is about 4 years old - I would be facinated to know the results of this experiment!
