Got a bit more air out of that tank valve this evening, guess this will just be a case of patience until the air gets circulated and can be bled off. Thanks again for the replies and help.
Yes, I did that but it was just the tiniest hiss, nothing like the amount of air that sounds like it's bubbling around in the pipes. That's why I asked above if I needed to let water flow out for a bit, in case air is trapped further down. :)
But I haven't bled anything yet? How would I have got rid of the air? And it's working fine when on water and heating? Boiler wiring hasn't been touched, just the new pump fitted. Thanks for replying. :)
Just tried again with water only and still the same issue, boiler cuts out after 10-15 mins. The pipes into the bottom of the tank and the middle of the tank are absolutely red hot, I guess they are the to/from the boiler pipes as I know the cold feed from the F&E tank is around the back. So...
I hear a tiny hiss and then water starts to come out so I shut them off, maybe worth letting it flow for a bit? Anyway, bypass valve is shut and the hot water has been on for 15 minutes and the boiler just cut out. I opened the airing cupboard to check the pipes a minute or 2 before that and...
Thanks Picasso, a bit of improvement. I wound the bypass valve shut last night and then backed it off about 1 turn. This morning we have much hotter water, probably as hot as it should be but the boiler had still tripped when I checked it. Obviously it had been running for longer before tripping...
Which bleed valves? Rads or those 2 tank ones? I've bled the rad ones a couple of times, 2 had a fair bit of air in still the 2nd time. Only a tiny bit of air from those tank ones though.
Did you see my question above about the bypass valve? Thanks for your help so far.
Hope that worked? Also, should that bypass valve be open or closed? It's a vented system with TRV's on all but one radiator.
*edit* After a bit more googling I think the bypass valve should be almost fully closed? It was probably half open so would that possibly cause the problem? i.e, sending...
