Ah right I see what you mean, yes it does look like that but I'll check and report back. It's all screwed to the wall at the moment because although the dimmer has failed the on/off switch still works so I've just reassembled it and use it as a switch 'til the replacement arrives.

Rocky, there's only two wires in/out and it's a switch/dimmer so obviously it's the line from the transformer in the loft. They're on for no more than 15 mins in the morning and 10 mins at night. It's fine :)

Thanks for all the help chaps, I hadn't realised I could remover the white plastic bit from the actual dimmer. That's useful info. It's dimming 6 x GU10 50w Halogen downlighters. ETA: Well, I've ordered the ZanoZGRID500 so I will report back on how I get on :lol:

Hi Deadshort, someone on another forum has identified it as being part of the Newlec frame system by Newey & Eyre. Problem now is that they don't show a dimmer unit in their catalogue but what I'll do is go to Slough with the dud one in my hand and ask for a replacement. :?
