How to put router somewhere else?

Picture of the kit would help identify. Is this a fibre to the premises install or a fibre to cabinet? Why on earth did you allow BT's proxy installer (Openreach/Kelly et al) to install in the 'closest place' (to suit their laziness) rather than where you need the device(s) to be for...

Integral blinds in double glazed units

Better choice of privacy glass is one method of attack. Perfect fit blinds that attach into the DG frame is another... e.g. https://www.perfectfitblinduk.com/ is one supplier --- there are a lot out there and it's not a recommendation. Other options would include venetian and roller blinds...

    AC DC adapter help please

Make and model of DAB radio? Make and model off the (faulty) existing adapter? (A photo could help).

Gas bonding - is my incoming gas pipe PE?

That plastic pipe is not the gas pipe... just a cover/conduit/hockey stick in which the gas pipe travels. We can't see the actual pipe incoming. You'll find the electric box has a similar one with the DNO cable inside it. {It's probably plastic. They don't use metal pipes any more afaik...

Solid red light on electric meter

Instant electric shower so energy hungry when operating. Ditto the undersink heater. (Make and model to find out the exact losses if it stores water/keeps it hot ready for use)? And what are your meter readings for the last year? Detailed month by month (Day and Night and Total). What is the...

Can I use CH cold water pipe to feed a washing machine?

Who on earth ty-raps a waste pipe to gas and water pipes rather than installing suitable proper pipe clips and spacers (i.e. do the job properly)? (Especially important once a washing machine waste standpipe is added into that pipework, I'd say). What is/was that capped off copper pipe in the...

Solid red light on electric meter

Yes the 100A red light is an indicator that the Off peak (E7) contactor in the meter is energised (to power storage heaters, immersion heaters etc.,.) on those old "Night rate" circuits of the Consumer Unit(s)... How do you heat the home? (If not by electricity)? What heats your water for...

    Heating a outside guest room

Around double that £1k for a twin split of decent brand with longer runs of pipework; plus installation by a F-gas certified bod. https://www.saturnsales.co.uk/Mitsubishi-Multi-Heat-Pumps-Air-Conditioning.html is an example retailer with a variety of brands to look at.

    Plex

Plex is good. TV Plex apps vary a lot. My Panasonic OLED's Plex app is limited to 1080p! I have to use a Fire TV stick for UHD Plex viewing. Note the Plex server may be transcoding the video and/or audio in some .mkv wrappers if the TV doesn't support decoding of the streams directly. You...

How is an undermount sink fitted to a quartz worktop?

Interesting. I'd wondered myself about the one (and a half sink) in my kitchen. No sign of clamps on mine. Just a plywood top of the sink base cupboard, cutout to match the sink shape; It seems that would ply supports the sink edges in place (with suitable sealant/adhesive of course)...

    Electric tile cutter

No you got that from B&Q ... well that's where I bought my PP one from back in the late 80s and is still on sale there today. Lidl is Parkside and Aldi Ferrex (currently, at least).

    Swap spotlights

OOPS Many thanks for the correction. Waning powers was why I got made redundant ;)

    Swap spotlights

NO as they are 12V ac halogens fed from (centralised?) transformer(s). MR16 bases - 16mm between the pins or maybe MR11 (11 mm spacing), although less likely imho. MR16 lamps are usually 50mm diameter overall. MR11 35mm diameter. GU10 (twisty bayonet, your describe) are 240 V ac and they...

Cost to heat DHW oil v electric?

No brainer to export as much as you can at those rates. Gas is circa 5.25p / kWh in to HW tank if 4.5p is the ex vat tariff rate (5p if inclusive). Reheat time is low with a boiler cf 3kW electric immersion too! But your gas price is surely extraordinarily low? The capped price is to drop to...

Cost to heat DHW oil v electric?

My oil costs me 8.70 pence per kWh inc VAT (based on last Septembers delivery rate and 90% efficiency, Grant condenser). My electric costs 29.22p / kWh. That 3.34 times more expensive for me. Allowing for some other heat losses (welcome in winter, and even summer: the en-suite shower tray is...
