    Flush valve leaking into toilet

Turn off water to cistern. Clearly it is a Geberit flush valve --- it is written on the top. It will be a bayonet fit (twist off carefully anticlockwise around 30 degrees typically) then lift it up and out; the rubber diaphragm washer can then be accessed for replacement. < Geberit Ideal...

    FTTP and ethernet

No. Especially one with a moulded shroud/strain relief. Just use a double ended joiner, and a brush plate? Or cable straight out of the brush plate. Note that flexi stranded cable will need the correct euro module (screw terminals?) cf solid core punch-down IDC (Krone block style) module...

Trying to source this garden connector?

I'm not opening a pdf from a random internet source... but Toolstation product 30897 and Screwfix 792PT do "brass" hose connectors. As will most garden centres, The Range, B&Q, B&M etc At least the retailer ones you can examine on / before purchase and reject if they appear too cheaply made.

Meter Reading Change for our Freehold

You have little to no choice: You don't own the meter. Supply Co do. Out of certification meter needs replaced. THEIR choice to do it. Ofgem want them to replace with Smart. Just let them in to do it. Changing meter is just moving the existing 4 wires in the bottom of existing to a new...

Smart adaptors, and what they do?

Many, if not most, washers and dryers have delay timers built in to run when 'more convenient'. Some now come with wifi connectivity... My washer is like that and I can (but never have) select the wash program and start time via its' Miele app.

Interest only, at what point is it better to use electric water heating over gas and oil?

How many times will you pose the same question or a minor variation of the same one? You have the brains to work this out and come to a worked conclusion to educate us all! My answer to that Q is when the fossil fuel boiler fails and the immersion backup comes into play.

    Smart Fused Spurs

By whom? What reason do they give? What circuit feeds your ventilation system? What power do the fans/heaters/etc.,. consume (in total as well as individually)? Anyways a fused spur can feed a plug/socket ;) There are suitable switches than can be built into suitably deep wall boxes or...

    Rainhead replacement

I can affirm that Grohe rainheads are plastic... at least in the Euphoria 260 3-spray form that we have... the 310mm may only have single spray setting. Check/consider the weight of any replacement head on the riser bar and its fixings - especially if you can find an all-metal construction one!

    2 way TV signal booster

55dBuV terminated is bang on the middle of the ideal (45-65 dBuV)... -4dB for a passive split = 51 dBuV A passive metal screened splitter is only a few quid and may be worth trying... https://www.toolstation.com/2-way-splitter/p30919 for TV plug style or...

    Distributing Freeview

Investigate the HDHomerun device... Streams over the house Ethernet system ... multi tuner (4) support. More tuners than the Manattan's measly two... https://shopuk.silicondust.com/shop/product-category/hardware/ Does need a sub for recording / EPG I believe? Humax HDR-Fox-T2 with custom...

    Distributing Freeview

What are you wanting to do exactly? All TVs have Freeview tuners in them. So an aerial distribution system will do that. Most will have suitable streaming players built in for iPlayer / Netflix etc.,. via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable (better). Wanting to view / control the Manhattan PVR from all...

shower screen smashed sink to bits

Make and model of sink and the waste fitted in it might help (or not). I'd be looking to replace that plastic waste with a decent brass captive flip style such as https://www.wolseley.co.uk/product/wirquin-wbk97w-basin-waste-spinner-slotted-11-4-chrome-plated/ The chrome bottle trap is missing...

    2 way TV signal booster

Depends on the device. Humax Foxsat-HDRs are usually quite happy at that indicated level... they also react to differing input signal levels. Older Panasonic TVs show 100% (or 10/10) at pretty much all signal inputs... Anything less being marginal! @DIYspanner Still need a postcode or the...

    2 way TV signal booster

Those aerial distribution amp's are probably among the worst made. Screened by aluminium sputtered on the plastic case. Cheap components, so the smoothing caps fail = hum = extra noise = signal becomes rubbish, despite the red light being on. They also amplify 21 (470 MHz) to 68 (860 MHz)...
