I would go with 8mm realy. You wont to screw it down one screw ever 6/8 incs leaving a 10mm gap around the eadges for it to exspand. I dont think it would matter which you do 1st

You can paint the hole roof this a waterproofing stuf. It will last a few year but ypu will always have trubbel with it. If you was to strip the roof and do it as a flat roof then put your tiles back on you would have the problem of putting nails throw your water prove membranes. Try getting...
