Interestingly the manual mentions cleaning a secondary air duct. Exchanged a text message with the old owner, they had no idea of this duct, so now it's a job of figuring out how to clean that. I have a suspicion our boiler is about to become a bit more efficient. Didn't know it this morning...

Thank you for the very much appreciated reply @Terrywookfit, yes the boiler is lit. I think you're right. The best option is to empty the coal out and see if it's there. I'm not sure of the inner workings or structure enough to know where the vents end up, if that makes sense. Hopefully they...
