Thanks, Phill. Had no idea what the valve was, just hoped it was usable. I will try the Hozelock connector.

I live in a first floor flat from where I need to run a garden hose outdoors. The only way to do it is through a window. The taps in my flat are unsuitable for the usual Hozelock type fittings but there is a connection in the bathroom which I am told has been used before for this purpose...
