    two gang light switch problem

Well guys, I couldn't rest and drive to London without trying just one more time. And thanks to Andy, I found that I had put the wire into the wrong block. Everything is now working correctly. I can't thank you enough. If you ever get to Cornwall, we between Redruth and Camborne, I will be...

    two gang light switch problem

Also John, I have just tested it all again and this is to add to your pondering, when I switch the lounge light on, the hall light does not work and, if switch off and on the lounge dimmer switch, the lounge light flickers.

    two gang light switch problem

Hi John, Yes, with the Hall light switched off, the lounge light works perfectly. Even with the lounge light switched off, when I switch the hall light on, they both come on dimly. Ponder on Ha,Ha.

    two gang light switch problem

Well I would like to thank you all for your patience in trying to solve my problem. I will now take your advice and keep trying to find an electrician. In the meantime, I will disconnect the hall light fitting. Thanks once again for all your help.

It's easier said than done down here in the far West of Cornwall. This job is too small to even reply to phone calls. I am sure with the help of all you good guys on this forum, we are not far from achieving success.

    two gang light switch problem

Good morning guys, First the good news. I have taken down the lounge rose and found a black wire that had become detached from a terminal block which already had a black in it. I refitted and whoopee the hall light worked. The bad news is, that if I switch the hall light on, the lounge light...

    two gang light switch problem

Hi, I haven't changed any lights at all but, I am just wondering if when I changed the upstairs and downstairs switches as per 'er indoors instructions, would the upstairs switch be affecting what goes on downstairs. The upstairs switch is also two gang and is a two way for the landing light...

    two gang light switch problem

The only reason I am trying to do this myself is that I have been let down by two sparks who think it is not worth a visit. Thank you for the links though.

    two gang light switch problem

Yes John, Both the black wires in the rose are live when the switch is on. So, I have assumed that power is going through the bulb socket. That's what confuses me. As I said, I have tested the bulb and that is okay.what also confuses me ( and that isn't difficult ) is that I have always...

    two gang light switch problem

Hi John, Here I am again. This morning I have put the black cable into L1 and have fitted an earth cable. When the switch is in the on position, according to my tester, I have power right to the bulb but, still no light. I think I am about to give up and wait until I can find a decent sparks...

    two gang light switch problem

With the switch in the off position, both the live and neutral are live but the bulb does not light. In the on position, the wires are dead. Somewhere the wires are the wrong way round. I haven't touched any other light fitting and this just stopped working.I have tested the bulb in another...
