the fires were fitted originally for their aesthetic appeal. im aware that if they are to be used I would need to remove the caps and will also need to provide an air source from the outside to the rooms with the fires in, we had problems with the downstairs fire smoking back until we fitted...

i had the same problem withmy bedroom fireplace openings.. I can only presume the original fireplaces had the lintels built into them somehow..

recently purchased a beautiful pair of cast iron fireplaces off of good ol fleabay.. and after a restoration and a nightmare they are finally in.. thing is I was hoping they would help improve the ventilation in the rooms and even be used once in a blue moon if me an the missus were feeling...

hi chirpy the stuff I am looking for isnt solid wood as such... its some form of substrate covered with a wood effect laminate which is extremely hard wearing.

we noticed recently that the bedroom fire has no draw on the chimney at all.... not even enough to draw the smoke from a match up.. had a look at the pots from the garden and they appear to have a round thing with holes in all the way round sat on top? would this be enough to totally stop...

we are trying to refurb a horsebox at work and the interior has all the corners made of preformed and coloured wood moulding with about a 50mm radius on it... anyone local to preston got any idea of who might be able to supply this? all we know is the original supplier of the mouldings was...

look under bonnet, either on right or left hand side is a red or black rubber button sort of 1 inch square witha round dimple on top, push your finger into the rubber bit it should click and stay down,(the rubber bit will pop back up though) this is the fuel cutoff relay which cuts out the fuel...

also the car is probably "on choke" or the fuel injected equivalent at first which is why its ok till its warmed up change that fuel filter would be my first suggestion.. then as said above get some wd40 around the throttle housing it iwll show up the leak
