Thank you, LJ1. In the end we decided to run with self-build insurance, with a limit on materials, and domestic contents insurance.

We are builkding a new place, living on site in a caravan, and have put up a new barn for workshop use and for storage of our (future) house contents. We're currently looking for an insurer to cover the contents risks - the DIY building insurance can't be extended to this, and other insurers...
