Quick update: I managed to securely hang the wall mirror (12kg) on the wall using 4 toggle bolts. I did reinforce with a pair of 9cm sq metal plates to help distribute the weight. So far it's holding up very well. Thank you for the advice and tips. Onto the next project

I have the same dilemma. I also have 100mm insulation and want to cross batten to increase insulation to recommended 270mm and then board for light storage. How did you go about it? Sam

Thanks for your response. The reason I wanted 2x7's is to achieve the required depth for the extra 170mm additional insulation that's required. if not 2x7 then I'd need 2 layers of beams to achieve desired depth. The current joists are 2x4.
