    Emulsion over previously wallpapered walls

So just an update on this :) The Gardz was superb! I did a quick light sand on the walls and the Gardz went on very easily, no splashing or dripping and as it was clear it was dead easy to cut in as I didn't have to worry too much about being really neat with it. I let it dry overnight and...

    Emulsion over previously wallpapered walls

OK I'll skip the sugar soap then and just lightly sand. There aren't any visible lumps and very few patches of visible paste in general but I guess it'll help the final finish if the surface is as smooth as possible. Relieved to hear you've found F&B ok - maybe just some grumpy folk on other...

    Emulsion over previously wallpapered walls

Thanks :) I've ordered some Gardz so I'll sand off as much of the paste as I can without damaging the paper and then give it a good wash down with sugar soap before I coat it. Apparently Gardz is awful to apply too due to it being watery - are there any tricks to it or just be careful and use it...

    Emulsion over previously wallpapered walls

Super thank you! That sounds like exactly what I was after as I'm sure painting emulsion over an oil based primer can't be a good idea... What is best practice? I'm no decorating expert so I'm open to any pointers; the info I've posted is only based on what I've already read online and that's...

    Emulsion over previously wallpapered walls

Hey everyone, I'm after some advice from anyone with experience of painting over previously wallpapered walls as, despite a lot of digging online, I'm finding a lot of conflicting information so I need clarification. My walls were lined with lining paper and then wallpapered. I have removed...

    Ventilation for BBU

Thanks guys, really appreciated! I'll pass on the information to the engineer fitting the vents - hopefully he'll listen to me as he really didn't seem to think it was allowed last time I spoke with him and I don't want him putting in direct open vents if it's not necessary! Not sure what to do...

    Ventilation for BBU

Hey, I know this probably comes up fairly frequently so I'll try to get to the point! I recently moved house and have a Baxi Bermuda 401 bbu in the lounge with an old radiant outset fireplace. There are two direct-to-outside vents in the kitchen but with no through vents from the lounge so...

Boiler only fires up when plenum chamber cover is removed

Thanks mysteryman. Yeah I think we probably were lucky to get a decent BG engineer as I know people who have had issues with them in the past to be fair. We ended up going with them because of the fixed price and piece of mind as we knew then that the cost wouldn't escalate and we'd definitely...

Boiler only fires up when plenum chamber cover is removed

It doesn't cost anything to be polite you know. This would be why we went with BG in the end, because there are too many arrogant independents out there who treat you like filth because you dare to suggest you've looked into a fault yourself. We told the BG engineer we thought we had an air...

Boiler only fires up when plenum chamber cover is removed

OH had already taken the view that the fan/venturi was the next bit to look at if the APS didn't fix it but we had decided enough was enough and we wanted it fixing safely by an engineer (he'd made the leap to that because if you tapped the fan the boiler would often kick in and it's also...

Boiler only fires up when plenum chamber cover is removed

Just to conclude this thread... We called British Gas out in the end as they offered to do a fixed price repair and service for £99 if we signed up for their boiler cover for 12 months which we wanted to do anyway. They came out and as it turns out it was indeed the Air Pressure Switch...
