Thanks to everyone for your help and advice but I went out today and bought a new 1 in the sales as i thought that it could turn out to be a costly business with getting it repaired. I will never have a hotpoint machine again.

We have taken the old carbon brushes to the shop to get replacements. The man there said they are fine!!!!!! Suggested it could be the motor. Does anyone know how much this could cost?

Hi we have taken out the carbon brushes, look a bit worn although we dont know how long they should be and were covered in black soot. They are both about 2cms long. Could this be the problem? Many thanks

Drum fills then empies straight away. The on/off button is flashing quickly along with the fourth button - mini load. Have cleaned out the pump. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Really cannot afford to call out Hotpoint. :(
