Stopping nuisance RCD trips - hob has 6.7mA leakage, normal?

I have a scope with a current clamp, but I was joking...

Stopping nuisance RCD trips - hob has 6.7mA leakage, normal?

I'm sure I can rig up a few resistors to a 13A plug to test the RCD :-) Seriously though, no intention of even opening the CU, just really wanted to try and do some fault-finding myself and get an idea if it was worth paying someone to come and sort it out or not (ie cost of finding/resolving...

Stopping nuisance RCD trips - hob has 6.7mA leakage, normal?

OK guys some strange behaviour last night when I was checking out the RCD trips with various things turned off. If I simply turn off the mains (at the isolator between the CU and meter) and then turn it back on again, the right RCD trips. So I turned off the hob circuit, repeat and it still...

Stopping nuisance RCD trips - hob has 6.7mA leakage, normal?

This is what I have, any ideas how to resolve the issue without massive outlay would be welcome :-)

Stopping nuisance RCD trips - hob has 6.7mA leakage, normal?

This was with all elements off - I literally just turned on the hob circuit at the CU by itself and jotted down what happened to the earth conductor current at the CU. Googling some more it seems someone else has got very similar readings, and for hobs over 6kW (mine is rated at 7.4kW) it seems...

Stopping nuisance RCD trips - hob has 6.7mA leakage, normal?

Well I'm not sure if 6.7mA leakage on the hob is a fault or not, that was one of my reasons to come here to see if that was normal or not. I bought the house with the kitchen and fixed appliances (ovens, microwave, hob, dishwasher, boiler etc) so it seems more like a poor design by the...

Stopping nuisance RCD trips - hob has 6.7mA leakage, normal?

Thanks for all the replies everyone, most helpful. Unfortunately the builder won't do anything about it as it's past the 2 year warranty period, the only things covered after 2 years are structural things. Or so they told me, I can't find anything definite one way or the other about whether the...

Stopping nuisance RCD trips - hob has 6.7mA leakage, normal?

My house was built in 2018 and has a CU with 2x RCDs. The problem is "RCD1" almost always trips when the power comes back on after a power-cut (which causes problems with the fridge!), and sometimes just trips by itself when doing something like turning on the kettle. I'm talking like 4 or 5...

    Ideal FF340 repeatedly sparking

I have two failure modes on my boiler, perhaps related, that have been progressively getting worse. It seems a bit random whether one occurs or the other. 1) The fan and pump are running, I can hear the spark every 1 second from the front of the boiler and from the flu outside, but no flame...

Radiators always heat up with HW

The system must have been converted before I bought the house, all we had done was the boiler replacement (the controller was exactly the same with the old boiler). He's coming back to finish off an unrelated piece of work, I'll quiz him about the loose wire and general wiring then.

Radiators always heat up with HW

Seems like I fixed it, when I looked in the junction box under the boiler there was a loose wire that had obviously come out of the connector block. When I traced it back it indeed came from the CH-ON terminal at the programmer. Connected it back up and works a treat. I guess when the...

Radiators always heat up with HW

It's an RWB9 (branded as Landis and Staefa), whilst it looks like you can set CH by itself, the unit won't let you select CH without HW being on first. I just wired up grey+white to live and it seemed to work as expected (boiler fired up and only CH side of the valve got hot). This seems...

Radiators always heat up with HW

The programmer doesn't allow the CH to be on without the HW, and the grey wire to the mid-pos valve is live when the cylinder stat is satisfied (assuming HW is on at the programmer), so I think this is ok? Tonight I'm going to connect the white and grey from the valve to live and check it...

Radiators always heat up with HW

I had a bit of a further fiddle about and I'm confused. The guy who fitted the boiler came to look, told me the electrics were wired fine and it was the mid position valve that needed replacing. However after a bit of researching I decided to check the valve was getting the correct signals...
