    I have one, bought it on ebay for about a tenner, works fine, i use mine to back stuff up onto old HDDs i have. There is not a lot to it, it is really just a cable converter with a USB plug on the end.

    Dead Sony Laptop

    I have seen a similar problem before, i fixed it by removing battery and power supply. then press and held the power button for 30 seconds. Then put the powers supply and it worked. cant remember if i removed the internal watch battery as well. Probably wont work but worth a try?

    Had to break in through a UPVC front door once (for work). Made a right mess and only succeeded by breaking through the bottom panel. Generally have no problems breaking though wooden doors. Perhaps you could give me some tips via work email address?
