No love for the vSmart then. Is that because it relies on internet? Or maybe because the wired weather compensator is better on the Sensohome/comfort. Personally I have a Honeywell Evohome and like being able to switch on my heating remotely before I set off home from wherever I have been...
Since posting the above question I have decided to have a moveable thermostat so that means a vSmart or a non Vaillant one such as the Drayton Wiser. Is there any advantage to using the vSmart over (for example) the Drayton in terms of efficiency or wear on the Vaillant boiler?
My mum has a Vaillant Ecotech boiler controlled by a wired VRC400 stat with weather compensation. It's started playing up with temperatures in the house when it's supposed to be 'off' being too high and the heating bill has shot through the roof. We could never work out how to use the thing...
I have an air vent to a basement and after heavy rain sometimes water appears from around the vent in the basement. On the outside above the main vent, in the brickwork, are 2 plastic inserts as per the photo attached. I think either water is being blown down the main vent or maybe water...
I am reviving this topic as I have been able to do a few tests since the lifting travel restrictions in England...
The heating engineer serviced the boiler and said there was nothing wrong. It was the temperature of the water coming in cf power of the boiler that was the issue. This seemed...
I had a Vaillant Ecotec Pro 28 fitted in 2016 and have had it serviced each year by the heating engineer who fitted it. This year I noticed that when the hot water tap is on full the temperature is nowhere near the 55C the boiler is set at. I rang the heating engineer and he said it was likely...
Bunnyman - thanks for the replies. I bought a genuine Vaillant diverter valve for under £50 and fitted it. It's been in over a week now and all is well. Cheers!
Thanks again. I'd been looking at videos on blocked Vaillant heat exchangers and if I understood correctly a blocked heat exchanger could result in hot water temperature being reduced whilst running because the boiler temperature itself reaches its safe level and stops burning.
The...
Thanks for the reply. As an update - as mentioned above I turned the hot water dial up to maximum to see how hot the water would get. I didn't realise that this would activate the 'warmstart' feature on the boiler and I woke up at 4am because I could hear the boiler running when it shouldn't...
Perhaps foolishly last weekend I drained my CH system and fitted a Magnaclean thinking that I would get the pipework and radiators clean in case I had to have a condensing boiler fitted if the Vaillant 837E packs up.
I added an extra drain valve at a lower point in the system too, put in Fernox...
Arrgh. Changed the APS for the one on the 'spare' Vaillant boiler. Worked fine until just now. Code 5.3 again. So if 5.3 definitely means a faulty APS then I guess the 'spare' is faulty too.
I have a new fan coming in a day or two as the current one is noisy. I'm not sure if a new one...
Brilliant! Can investigate replacing that now then. :D
Many thanks.
EDIT : Even better it should be on the spare boiler my sister has which isn't the 837 (828 I think) as all models seem to use the same one. Hopefully it wasn't faulty on that boiler.
