No power to garden shed after fuse fix

Ah well - there ya go - I though it was just feeding the double socket, not the exterior power. But then that's why I came on here to ask - you live and learn and I'm grateful for everyones input

No power to garden shed after fuse fix

No probs. I disconnected everything before touching it. If I could isolated the whole village easily I would have done! Anyway - I've learned something from it and I'm grateful for the assistance - as are the koi, catfish and shebunkin

No power to garden shed after fuse fix

All - Thanks for your help. A new fuse in the rather dangerous looking plug dangling from the fuse box has fixed the problem. I've got onto a pal who is currently training as a spark - he's promised to make it his first paid project once he's qualified! So once again, thanks for the...

Both armoured enter/exit outside of garage wall but underground ie. garage is at a lower level than house and lawn runs smack up to garage wall So the cable from garage to shed runs under lawn and eventually pops up via a vertical pipe in the corner of a flower bed, from whence it runs in...

No power to garden shed after fuse fix

Hey no worries guys - enjoying the banter. Hoping the fish will be okay - pretty sure they will be - and they ARE expensive Koi! Good spot though - that grey wire does go to a plug and not a socket. That looks flaky even to me. I will get it overhauled - but what is nagging me is...

Steve - The grey cable goes to the single socket which I'm thinking is to enable the extra double socket

No power to garden shed after fuse fix

Update: 1. The socket under the fuse box seems to be a spur (?) from the box which in turn feeds the double socket below which is live 2. The light switch below the fuse box, and next to the single socket, shares trunking back into the fuse box with the single socket 3. There is one...

Okay ... here's a pic of the guts of the box. I'm a bit mystified myself about the function of the socket so I'll try and make some sense of it while you folks digest this.

Thank you all. I'm going to try and do this asap but if I run out of light I may need to do it in the morning and repost then. Cheers

Yep - switch is ON! Just off in pic. If the plug is feeding the unit, and the fuse in it had gone, I'm assuming that nothing would work ... but the garage lights do :(
