Ah sorry, you initially mentioned on the house side, not the garage. I am yet to thoroughly inspect the garage end and will do so hopefully this weekend and provide pictures. I won't action or 'live' anything until I've run it by you guys.

Hi Bernard, as mentioned above the armoured element was cut back to the point just before the cabling goes through the house wall, but it is definitely armoured. There are no other services in the garage, just electric.

I'll get a photo of the unit that is currently installed into the garage to show you what's there and if its OTT or still usable. Thanks again.

Ah sorry, yes the house is RCD protected at the main consumer unit, but the garage seems to have it's own within the mini-CU too, I'll deal with that side after I've solved the element inside the house - none of it will be 'powered' until you've confirmed that visually/in theory it is setup...

I haven't connected the other end at this time (the garage end), its just terminated safely for the time being and I'll photograph that end to post here before connecting anything up or putting a fuse into the FCU. The colours are Red, Yellow and Blue, it hasn't faded, its just a poor photo :)

Fair enough, appreciate the advice - out of curiosity, why is this armoured cable using those colours? The regs have never stated that they're formal colours right?

I just had a mow strip installed around my garden consisting of basic driving pavers positioned around the garden level with the soil so that when mown, it creates a nice finish. Simple bed of cement around the garden, then sit the pavers into it - job done!
